  • I have known Professor Genaro Solis since the Fall of 2018. I was a student in one of his first branding classes as a new educator. Even though he was new, the outcome was surprisingly remarkable. Professor Solis kept the class engaged, providing resources and his vast knowledge in the subject of communication and design; helping students navigate through his class and the Communication Design program. Personally, his class awakened my aspiration to continue this study as a student, and as a professional.

  • Genaro unites his passion for teaching with his experience in the design industry. He not only listens to his students but knows when to challenge their ideas and when to let them grow. I have witnessed Genaro build community within the university. He’s established an adjudicated student work exhibition and he’s hosted numerous workshops for students of all levels to attend. His teachings go farther than the walls of the classroom.

  • Genaro, it has been a great pleasure having you as a professor and mentor. I have learned so much more about branding and what it means and entails than I ever expected. Thanks for always pushing us to do great work, think conceptually, and design for longevity.

The rebranding they did for our company is not only amazing but has received an honorable mention at the Graphis Design Annual 2020 competition. • I have worked with Genaro Design on various projects and have always been incredibly impressed. For the McNay, they created outstanding branding for two great events . . . They understand clients’ needs and translate them into sophisticated, powerful, and memorable design that is used to deliver cohesive messaging across platforms.

  • I have worked with Genaro for many years on several projects, some small startups and other larger, more sophisticated companies. I find he brings a strong bi-cultural mindset to his creativity that makes his artwork stand out in a very unusual way. If your idea is to have a design that gets you noticed ... Genaro is your branding master!

George Kauss Founder, Managing Director at Acquasol America
  • Genaro is a great professor who really cares about the success of his students and genuinely wants for them to become better in their design skills and succeed in the design profession. He sees great potential in all of his students, which is something that has helped me gain confidence in my design. He has helped me become the strong designer I am today. I give him +5 stars as a professor, and a +4.99 stars for his good sense of humor.

Genaro Solis Rivero

Though we don’t know what tomorrow holds, we do know who holds tomorrow.
—Ed Newton, CBC Pastor

Genaro Solis Rivero is a graphic designer and a design educator teaching Communication Design in the School of Art and Design at Texas State University since Fall of 2018. He began his career as a graphic designer at Equilibrio in Mexico City and co-founded Contrasto Group, a graphic design studio that specialized in editorial design and branding. After Genaro received his M.F.A. degree from Texas State in 2012, he opened Genaro Design, a boutique branding agency in San Antonio, Texas. The spring of 2020 brought a great opportunity for a joint venture with Legacy79; since, Genaro has been the Master Ideator of the L79 Family and a proud 79er!

Genaro strongly believes in giving back to the community; hence, he has utilized his expertise in graphic design to support several cause-based NPOs throughout the years. His philanthropist spirit began with his active involvement with the Shriners Hospitals for Children in the late ’90s. In 2017, Genaro undertook the Classical Music Institute rebrand as a pro-bono work and this relationship led him to serve as Chair of the Marketing Committee of the CMI Board of Directors for couple of years.

Genaro’s communication design has been recognized by national and international industry leading organizations and publications, which include: The American Advertising Federation, Art Directors Club of Houston, Creative Summit, Dallas Society of Visual Communications, Good50x70, Graphis Press, and LogoLounge.

Teaching what I love and loving what I teach, is how Genaro describes his new passion for design education. He loves a good glass of wine, is a foodie—and espresso is a must. He is fan of the Dallas Cowboys; although, his passion for horses influenced his inclination for the Denver Broncos when he was a child. He is a member of Community Bible Church and enjoys Christian contemporary music. He is married and his two boys keep him busy when he is not teaching or designing.
