Design Objective
A positive impactful future.

The project’s objective was to design the environmental graphics and the package design for futuristic made-up products for The DoSeum’s signature exhibit, Dream Tomorrow Today. I have been familiar with the project since my team, and I also designed the identity for this signature exhibit several years before. The exhibit included a slide into the future on a visually stunning projected surface, a place to explore collaborative weaving, the opportunity to clean up a lake represented as a glowing ball pit, shop in a futuristic market, future food products invented by kids, create a future meal; tend a community garden and use AR to build a future city to survive a natural disaster and many other fun activities.

Design Approach
Bright design elements.

First, my team and I developed a style guide. The style guide included color, typography, a wayfinding system, and graphic elements. We had a lot of fun designing a dozen package designs for made-up futuristic packaged food invented by kids of different ages. Both the environmental graphics and package designs were bilingual, so typography and color played an important role in this fun project, allowing me to experiment with different styles and techniques, especially with the package designs.

Genaro and his team at Legacy79 created for us a beautiful suite of environmental graphics which aligned with our style as a modern children’s museum and adapted well to the specific demands of the project, which required simplicity in communicating complex ideas.
